Drug Pusher Killed in Bayugan City Firefight
Jose Nelson Garbo, Jr. a.k.a. Jun Garbo, 51, a resident of Barangay Salvacion was killed in a firefight with the police in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur last August 09.
Garbo is included in the illegal drug watch list of Bayugan City Police Station. He was one of the subjects of Project Tokhang but did not surrender to the authorities.
Based on the report from Agusan Del Sur Police Provincial Office, the shootout happened around 1:30PM when Bayugan City cops implemented a search warrant at the suspect’s residence for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
As the raiding team was about to enter the gate, the suspect fired his caliber .38 revolver forcing the cops to fire back. No policeman was hurt during the shooting.
Police also recovered a caliber .38 revolver and 5 grams of shabu with street value of P59, 000.
Garbo is the 6th drug suspect killed in police law enforcement operations amid the relentless implementation of Project Double Barrel in Caraga region from July 1-August 10.
CSUPT Felix stressed that the police are serious in the war against illegal drugs and further warned drug personalities not to resist arrest or put up a firefight with the police.
