Bridge at Barangay Babag Collapse

A motorized sikad and a pickup truck fell into the river after the bridge at Barangay Babag collapsed on August 28 which also happens to be the feast day of the barangay.

The pickup truck was still floating in the river while the motorized sikad was rescued. Other residents crossing the bridge also fell into the river.

Transportation has been long discouraged from crossing the bridge due to its weak foundation and structure. A warning sign was also placed on the bridge.

The residents living in the area are affected by the accident because the bridge is a passage to the center of the barangay and to the city proper. The bridge serves as an alternative route and is the easier way out of the barangay.

According to barangay officials , they already forwarded the problem to the Butuan City local government a long time ago, but the action taken is slow and was not immediately given attention.
