MAYOR RCL CONVENES Q3 EDCom MEETING

In preparation for the 88th meeting of Regional Development Council (RDC), the Economic Development Committee (EDCom) was convened yesterday by its Chairperson, Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada at the NEDA Conference Hall, NEDA Caraga Building, Butuan City, last september 9.

Various presentations and updates of regional concerns were discussed in relation to economic development of the Caraga Region. Among these were: Presentation of the 2015 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP); Updates on the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP); Request of the Province of Dinagat Islands to the Environmental Management Bureau to Revisit the Composition of Multipartite Monitoring Team and Mine Rehabilitation Fund Committee; Highlights of the 25th Mindanao Business Conference; Updates on Caraga Trade Expo 2016 and Status of Irrigation System in the region.

In assessing the need of industrial support and incentives by the government, EDCom XIII also discussed updates of the different industries in the region, namely: Coconut and its by-products; Fishery Industry and Mining Industry.

The EDCom is one of the four sectoral committee under the RDC-XIII. The Committee is responsible in providing the Council with appropriate information and recommendations on matters concerning regional development, particularly in the following areas: Agriculture and Fisheries; Infrastructure; Environment and Natural Resources; Mining; Agrarian Reform; Science and Technology, Trade and Industry and Tourism, among others.
